EKRE's worldview is rooted in "Estonian ethno-nationalism." It considers the survival of Estonian culture and language to be a matter of supreme national interest. Its view of humanity is traditionally conservative: the nuclear family forms the fundamental unit of society, while globalization and multiculturalism are perceived as existential threats. In its logic, the state primarily functions as a sanctuary for its own people, implying a strict demarcation from external influences and supranational institutions like the EU.
The party primarily mobilizes the rural population and those who feel left behind by Estonia's rapid digital transformation. Economically, it combines protectionist approaches with demands for tax cuts. A central pillar is its uncompromising migration policy: EKRE demands zero tolerance for illegal immigration and strictly rejects quota systems. On social policy, it actively opposes the legal recognition of same-sex partnerships and advocates for a return to traditional Christian-Western values.
EKRE operates as an anti-establishment party, employing deliberately provocative rhetoric to shift public discourse to the right. It frequently adopts a confrontational stance towards the rule of law.
