LO's foundation is rooted in classical Marxism-Leninism, specifically its Trotskyist manifestation. The party perceives society as being in a perpetual class struggle between the proletariat and the bourgeoisie. LO does not view the existing state as a neutral actor but rather as a tool of the ruling class designed to safeguard bourgeois privileges. LO demands a ban on layoffs in profitable companies, a substantial increase in minimum wages and pensions, and the expropriation and nationalization of key industries and banks under worker control. The party rejects the European Union, viewing it as a 'Europe of Capital.' Its target demographic is exclusively the working class.
