The ÖDP's foundation is built on the conviction that unlimited economic growth is impossible on a finite planet. Its worldview is shaped by ecological responsibility and ethical consumption. Unlike purely left-wing environmental parties, the ÖDP emphasizes the protection of life at all stages and views the family as the cornerstone of society. In this logic, the state has a duty to actively safeguard the foundations of life for future generations, rather than pursuing short-term profit interests.
The agenda focuses on the economy for the common good and resource efficiency. Key demands include a child-rearing allowance for parents, strengthening rural areas, and a strict ban on corporate party donations to prevent corruption. The party primarily targets environmentally conscious voters seeking an alternative to the traditional left-right political spectrum, who value sustainability, animal welfare, and a more mindful pace of life.
Strategically, the ÖDP positions itself as the 'conscience of democracy.' By consistently rejecting corporate donations, it claims a special moral standing and independence from lobby groups. Within the political system, it often acts as a pioneer for popular initiatives and places issues on the agenda through direct democratic instruments. Despite its role as a minor party, it exerts significant influence on political culture and legislation through legal victories and civic engagement.
We surveyed voters across all parties within the PolitPro community about their stances on key political issues. The bars illustrate the range of opinions among ÖDP supporters. A shorter bar indicates a more homogeneous opinion among supporters. Where available, the party's official position is displayed as a circle.
These values are derived from data provided by ÖDP supporters on the PolitPro platform. While this data is not a traditional representative random sample, the high number of participants provides deep insights into the priorities and values of the active voter base.
