Electoral system

Bonus for the winner: 50 extra seats are up for grabs.

Greece's electoral system has a special feature: the strongest party automatically receives 50 bonus seats added to its regular result. This regulation was introduced to ensure stable government majorities following the financial crisis, keeping the country governable.

Voting at 17 - the youngest voting age in Europe.

Greeks are allowed to vote at just 17 years old - the lowest voting age in Europe. The 300 parliamentary seats are allocated through a proportional representation system, but parties must achieve at least 3 percent of the votes to enter Parliament.

Curious election campaign: Posters only in designated areas.

In Greece, election posters are only allowed to be displayed in state-approved locations. Private house walls or trees are off-limits. Additionally, there is a complete ban on campaigning 24 hours before the election - even interviews with politicians are prohibited.
Direct Election Members are elected directly by the people.
Party List Vote Voters choose between party lists instead of individuals.
Majority Bonus The largest party gets extra seats to secure a majority.
One Round The election is decided in a single round of voting.
Free Elections are free, fair and competitive.
