While it occasionally acted as a pragmatic majority-maker within center-left government coalitions during the 1990s and 2000s, this tightrope walk between systemic critique and realpolitik severely fragmented the party. Today, it operates in isolation on the far-left of the political spectrum, struggling for parliamentary relevance, and utilizes extra-parliamentary activism and social movements as its primary arena.
