The PCC's foundation is rooted in modern Marxism and the concept of social progress. It rejects traditional nationalism, instead promoting an identity based on the shared citizenship of all Moldovan residents, regardless of ethnicity. The party views the state as a tool for securing basic needs and a bulwark against exploitation by transnational corporations and local oligarchs. Its humanistic perspective is collectivist: progress is achieved through participation and the overcoming of societal divisions.
The PCC's agenda focuses on significant investments in education, science, and healthcare to elevate Moldova from its status as one of Europe's poorest nations. It advocates for progressive taxation policies and the protection of national sovereignty against external actors. The party primarily targets urban intellectuals, precariously employed individuals, and minorities who feel unrepresented by the established pro-EU or pro-Russia blocs. Its goal is economic modernization that does not compromise social welfare.
Strategically, the PCC positions itself as a critical force challenging the system, viewing existing institutions as corrupted by economic elites. It often operates at the intersection of a political party and a civil society movement. While formally supporting the rule of law, it calls for a profound democratization of decision-making processes. Its inherent tension lies in its distance from the country's traditional left-wing forces, making it an intellectual niche that, while influential in shaping public discourse, faces the challenge of mobilizing broad segments of the electorate.
