The PPDA's foundation lies in its fight against the "captured state." The party emerged from mass protests against oligarchy and systemic corruption. Its worldview is shaped by a Christian democratic-conservative anthropology, coupled with a strong belief in liberal institutions. For the PPDA, the state is not an end in itself; rather, it must serve its citizens through moral integrity and an incorruptible justice system. The party emphasizes Moldova's national identity within the context of a shared European destiny and advocates for a return to moral values in politics.
The PPDA's agenda is sharply focused on judicial reform and the de-oligarchization of the country. It advocates for judicial independence, the confiscation of illicitly acquired assets, and transparent public administration. Economically, the party supports small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and rural development to halt the significant out-migration. Its target audience includes the pro-European middle class, intellectuals, and the diaspora, all seeking Western-style modernization while upholding traditional fundamental values.
Strategically, the PPDA positions itself as an uncompromising guardian of the rule of law. While it views European integration as the only viable path, it often acts as a moral corrective within the political spectrum. Its role is that of a reformist force, exerting pressure on institutions to defend democratic standards against authoritarian backsliding. In this, it faces constant competition from other pro-European forces, distinguishing itself through a stronger focus on extra-parliamentary activism and deeper roots in protest culture.
