The LDPR's ideology is rooted in radical Russian nationalism, intertwined with imperial nostalgia. Its worldview is defined by the concept of Russian exceptionalism and the global protection of ethnic Russians. The party perceives the state as an authoritarian force for order, prioritizing stability over individual liberties. Its anthropology is collectivist: the individual finds purpose in the strength of the nation. To achieve its aims, it employs deliberately provocative, often populist rhetoric to fuel resentment against the West and liberal elites.

The LDPR's agenda centers on expanding Russian influence and military rearmament. It advocates for a protectionist economic policy and social pledges aimed at the "common folk," particularly in the regions. Its core constituency comprises male voters, military personnel, and citizens who yearn for the lost grandeur of the Soviet Union or the Tsarist Empire. Tensions arise when the party makes radical demands to shift the public discourse further to the right, yet always remains within the fundamental parameters set by the Kremlin.

Strategically, the LDPR functions as a "controlled outlet" within the Russian power structure.
