MI!'s foundation rests on a critique of modern capitalism and the vision of a society where solidarity triumphs over profit-seeking. The party advocates a humanist worldview rooted in collective responsibility and the redistribution of wealth. State and nation are not seen as closed spaces of identity but rather as tools to guarantee social security and curb the power of large corporations. Ideologically, it is rooted in democratic socialism and aims for the democratization of the economy.
The agenda focuses on expanding public services, ensuring affordable housing, and raising minimum wages. MI! champions policies for the working class, young people in precarious employment, and pensioners who have been left behind by economic shifts. Key demands include strengthening trade unions, halting the privatization of critical infrastructure, and implementing an ecologically sound transformation that is socially equitable. Their target audience comprises citizens who have lost faith in established centrist parties.
Strategically, MI! positions itself as a corrective force from the far-left, aiming to shift political discourse away from purely market-liberal issues towards questions of distribution and equity. Its relationship with institutions is critically constructive: while defending the rule of law, they advocate for greater direct citizen participation. MI! often acts as an extra-parliamentary think tank or a junior coalition partner, exerting pressure on larger left-wing or liberal alliances to sharpen their profile and push for social compromises.
